Wildfire Awareness Day and Ahtanum Campground Clean-up
Join a free fun community volunteer event hosted by BSA Skookum District & Selah Sweets and with cooperation from the Department of Natural Resources to learn about wildfire safety and care for our Ahtanum Campground.
Everyone is welcome!
At noon on Saturday April 8th, 2017, join DNR staff, Smokey Bear and the Boy Scouts of America Grand Council Skookum District to learn about wildfire safety and care for our Ahtanum Campground. Staff will be providing tours of a fire apparatus and sharing information on how to properly extinguish a campfire. Volunteers will be picking up litter and cleaning fire rings in our Ahtanum Campground. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
What to bring
Volunteers should bring clothes appropriate for weather conditions, work gloves, boots, lunch, water. Some hand tools will be available.
Meet at the Whites Ridge Trailhead. Exit I-82 to Valley Mall Boulevard. Turn left on Longfiber Road. Right onto Ahtanum for 13 miles. Turn right onto North Fork Road at the Tampico Store. Proceed 10 miles to the Middle Fork Road. Whites Ridge Trailhead is on the left past the guard station.
This event is eligible for a voucher toward a complimentary Discover Pass.
ALL MINORS MUST HAVE A DNR FORM SIGN BY PARENTS OR GUARDIAN.
Participants who show up without a parent or guardian will need to have the “Minor Volunteer Registration Agreement” form filled out completely and turned in at the event. The DNR will track volunteer hours on the group time sheet, so everyone will have to fill out their name and address on the group sheet when they show up to track the hours. We need a person count for any DNR so they will set up for that many and if they have any give-a-ways. Please RSVP Clay Graham at SelahAdventures@outlook.co
