2012 Selah Community Days

Selah Community Days
Report and photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

The 2012 Selah Community Days event was on Thursday May 17th through Sunday May 20th, 2012. This is a fun event that is put on every year down town Selah Community Days.

On Thursday my wife and I went down to the Selah Civic Center to the Hobo Feed to check it out.

On Friday my son Charlie and I headed to down town Selah to check out what was going on.

At the Selah Civic Center there was a Potato Feed put on by the Selah Chamber of Commerce.

Over at the field between Lince Elementary and Wixson Park the carnival was set up. Out in front of the carnival was a Show & Shine and poker run sign up.

They had a band playing for the Show & Shine.

Charlie really wanting to go ride the rides.

We walked next door to Wixson Park to see what was happening.

There were many booths set up.

We walked through the carnival to see the rides.

We walked over to Kings Row to get dinner.

As we were eating dinner at Kings Row the Poker Run started and Kings Row was a check point.

After dinner we walked back over to Wixson Park.

We sat in Wixson Park and listen to “Tieton Drive” play. This is a very good band I hope to see play again soon.

On Saturday I got to Selah around 7:30 AM to find lawn chair lined up down the street with only a few people around.

I parked at TQ Hobbies to wait for the Selah Community Days Parade to start.

By 9:30 the sidewalks were full as people waited for the parade to start.

People swarmed around these Great Danes as the owners walked down the street.

The Selah Community Days Parade started at 10 AM. Here are some pictures I took.

Saturday night there was a street dance with a live band down town Selah open to all ages. The dance was on East Naches Avenue in front of the Pastime & Double Barrel and a beer garden in between.

The music stopped playing for a moment of silence for the ones gave there life to serve our country and then fireworks went off from Lince Elementary School.

Looking down East Naches Avenue at the street dance.

Dancing in the street.

The Selah Community Days event was very fun. I will be back next year for sure.

Beverly Dunes Clean-up and Camp-out

Beverly Dunes Clean-up and Camp-out
Report and photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

On Friday May 4th, 2012 a lot of Eastern Washington Adventures members meet up at Beverly Dunes to camp for the weekend. The members did a few runs during the day and a night run. The wind made it a little cold.

On Saturday May 5th, 2012 volunteers met up at the Beverly Dunes parking area around 10 AM for the Beverly Dunes Clean-up hosted by Yakima/Kittitas Forest Watch Association (a division of Eastern Washington Adventures) with cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources. Once everyone sign in they headed out to pick up trash across the ORV area.

The clean up only took a few hours and then everyone got to play. Some that came just for the day went out on the first group run of the day. There were a few more runs before dinner. For dinner Icesis & Barbie cooked us a great Mexican dinner in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.

On Sunday May 6th, 2012 we woke up to a great day. It was warm and the wind was not blowing. We did a few runs before most people headed for home. A few stayed another night since the weather was so nice.

Thank you to everyone that came out to help with the clean up. Thank you Icesis and Barbie for the Cinco de Mayo dinner and Jeepscum for sharing his Sunday breakfast with us.

Here are some photos and videos I took of the weekend.

On Saturday April 28th, 2012 we had the 2012 Eastern Washington Off Road Meet & Greet at the Eastern Washington Adventures Club House in Selah, Washington. This event was hosted by 4WheelingPlus.com and Eastern Washington Adventures. Others who donated items for the Forest Watch Volunteer Program Raffle were Red Goat Fab, ASR Off Road, Pegasus Northwest Inc., Yakima Arms, The Rec Room, Highland Quick Stop and Complete Cabin Care. Many brought items for the potluck and Mike Williams was kind enough to run the barbeque. $172 was raised for the Forest Watch Volunteer Program. Thank you to everyone that helped make this event a success.

I was very busy having fun meeting and greeting people so I did not get as many photos as I would have liked. Here are the photos I did take:

The weather was great. Looking at the empty playground that would be soon full of children playing.

Mike Williams cooks the best dogs. We hope he comes back to cook for the Summer Meet & Greet in August.
