Packwood Memorial Day Weekend Flea Market
Report & Photos by Clay Graham / Selah Sweets

On Wednesday, May 24th through Monday May 29th, 2017, we had a Selah Sweets vendor booth set up at the Packwood Timberland Library for the Packwood Memorial Day Weekend Flea Market.

This time we brought the E350 Camper Van to sleep in and the 1961 Chinook Travel Trailer to vend out of. It worked out better than the pop-ups and P30 Van we used at the last Packwood Labor Day weekend Flea Market.

The weather was nice other than the wind on Wednesday when we first got there. It was nice to be able to see Mount Rainier from downtown Packwood.

With the heat we sold a lot of Shaved Ice. The fudge sales were not as good as last Labor Day Weekend. Sales over all were great for us and we were business most of the time. Our sons helped us and other vendors too. Our two youngest helped with the trash in the vending area to raise money for Boy Scout Camp.

Here are some photos of our time at the Packwood Flea Market:

Play The Gap
Report & Photos by Clay Graham / Selah Sweets

On Friday, May 19th through Sunday May 21st, 2017, the 2nd annual “Play The Gap” happened in Union Gap, WA at the Central Washington Agricultural Museum.

PlayTheGap is a FREE event that focuses on introducing youth & adults to a “Slice of Americana” through many educational programs and activities. “Slice of Americana” refers to a simpler time before IPhones & computers demanded so much attention, a time when chatting with a neighbor over a cup of coffee was all the entertainment that was needed. PlayTheGap is an exciting, safe event where people of all ages can unplug from their hectic schedules, learn some usable skills, and enjoy good music, good food, and some good, old fashioned fun.

There was free on-site camping and many people camped. There were a lot of vintage trailers, teardrops, tents and other RVs.

Music was played throughout the park. There were music work shops, concerts, jams, and contest. Along with that was square dancing were everyone had a chance to learn.

There were many arts and craft vendors. Saturday was the big day for vending.

For food, there was Just 2 Guys BBQ, Selah Sweets, and Dutch Oven Cooking by Northwest Dutch Oven Society.

There was a lot of other fun thing too like, a Quilt Block Challenge, Classic Cars/Trucks CruZin’ Parade, Kid’s Activities, and Raffles.

Eastern Washington Adventures May 2017 Road Trip
Hosted by Eastern Washington Adventures.
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Selah Sweets

On Monday, May 15th, 2017, Eastern Washington Adventures did a Road Trip. Three vehicles with members met up in Vantage, WA at 10 AM. We convoyed across the Columbia River on I-90 and headed east on SR26. We stopped at the Hatton Coulee Rest Area just past US395 to met two more members in their truck & camper.

We all continued on SR26 and then turned onto SR261 in Washtucna. We ran SR261 to Palouse Falls. We stopped to see the water fall and have lunch.

After lunch we ran SR261 south to Lyons Ferry State Park. We took a walk through the park to look at the old ferry and then over to the Snake River.

After our hike through Lyons Ferry State Park, we continued south across the Snake River Bridge aka Lyons Ferry Bridge. We turned off of SR261 at Starbuck, WA and ran the back roads to US12 near Dayton, WA. We headed west though Dayton and stopped to camp at Lewis and Clark Trail State Park.

We set up our two camps at Lewis and Clark Trail State Park, then took a hike in that park. We took the trail and walk down to the Touchet River which runs along the north board of Lewis and Clark Trail State Park. We watched crop dusters flying around the park. We hike on around the trail to the park entrance and then crossed US12 to the day use area of the park. The day use part of the park had a lot of historic information signs telling about Lewis and Clark’s adventure. After reading the signs and letting the kids play some, we headed back across the highway. Some went to start dinner and the rest of us finished off the trail back to camp. We head a potluck dinner around the campfire and then enjoyed the warm night.

The next morning we woke up to everything being wet. The rain had moved into the area. We packed up camp and parted ways.
