Naches Sportsmans’ Days
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Selah Sweets
On the morning of Friday September 8th, 2017, we set up the Selah Sweets vending trailer at the Naches Historical Train Depot for Sportsmans’ Days. The sky was smokey from all the forest fires west of town. The air was much better than the day before.
The Sportmans’ Day event kicked off on Friday night at 5 PM when the Midway opened. There was live music and a lot of other fun things going on. The event ran until 10 PM that night.
Saturday the air was clear and there was a lot going on all day. We first headed downtown to watch the parade. There was a Kids Parade and then the Grand Parade. The Wenas Mammoth Foundation had their Mobile Exhibit for people to see. There was a Kid’s Korner at Art Deco Park. At noon was the Grand Opening Ceremony with the presentation of Colors and the Midway opened. In the afternoon there was a Fishing Derby for all the fishermen between the ages of 4-12 years old. And there was so much more fun throughout the day into the night!
Sportsmans’ Days provides a great time of community fellowship and fun which draws in visitors to Naches from around Central Washington.
Sportsman’s Days is one of the longest running community day events in the Yakima Valley. The event features free entertainment throughout the weekend along with a midway, rides, food booths, game booths, silent auction, button drawings, free shows and much more.
